Hasnat Abdul Hai (born 1939 ) is a reputable Bangladeshi writer and renowned novelist. He studied in Dhaka, Washington, London and Cambridge.He started his career by teaching. Then the government did various duties from the civil service and retired from the post of secretary of Bangladesh government in 1999 .The number of stories published in the book, the novel twenty-three, the travel story six and the essay two. He originally earned fame as a novelist and traveling story writer. His novels are nominated for the Sultan Dublin International Literary Award .
