Abdullah Al Moti Sharafuddin ( January 1 , 1930 - November 30 , 1998 ) is a renowned educationist, science writer, science worker and a government official of Bangladesh. But he is better known as Abdullah al-Muti. He is the second among the science writers of Bangladesh who received the UNESCO Kalinga Award.Abdullah Al-Muti was born in Fulbari village of Sirajganj district . Her mother Halima Sharfuddin and father Sheikh Moin Sharfuddin 5 of the 6 sisters, Abdullah Al-Muti is the eldest of all. In 1945, he obtained 2nd place in Kolkata Board of Matriculation examination (now SSC examination ) from Muslim High School in Dhaka . In 1947, he successfully passed the 11th position and was admitted to Dhaka University . In 1952, he graduated with physics degree. Because of his active involvement in the Bengali Language Movement, he got the second class, but in the first year he got his Master's Degree in the first year. After that, he received M.A. in Education in 1960 from the University of Chicago and PhD in 1962.
