Shawkat Ali (born 12 February 1936) is a Bengali fiction writer. He is a journalist and teacher in the profession. In the late 20th century, he earned fame by writing stories and novels in independence-north Bangladesh. He was born in Raiganj thana of northern Dinajpur district in the Indian state of West Bengal . His father used to do congressional movement. His mother was in favor of the Muslim League.Shawkat Ali started writing in class nine. But after partition he came to Dinajpur and published a story in his first paper in the newspaper 'Nahan Sahitya' of the left wing of Calcutta.
