Mazharul Islam ( born : 5 July , 1923 - Death : July 14 , 01 ), Bangladesh as well as the Indian sub- eminent among architects. He is the pioneer of the architectural profession of Bangladesh . The international renowned architect was the first president of Bangladesh Institute of Architecture . He has been actively involved in various progressive movements and cultural activities at different times including direct participation in the Great War of Liberation .Born on December 25, 1923 in the house of Nana, in Sundarpur village of Murshidabad district . At that time his father Omdatul Islam was a mathematician teacher of Krishnanagar College. After reaching the fifth grade in Krishnanagar College School, Rajshahi went to the place of father's replacement. After passing Secondary and Higher Secondary Certificate from Rajshahi Collegiate School and Rajshahi College respectively, he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Physics. Later , in 1946, he finished studying engineering from Shibpur Engineering College . After partition, he joined government service as assistant engineer in 1947.In 1950, he went to the United States and returned home after two and a half years after studying architecture from the University of Oregon .
